1. Can you share a personal story or experience that has had a significant impact on your commitment to adult literacy?

2. How do you personally stay motivated and engaged in your work, especially during challenging times?

3. Can you describe the specific programs and services your organization offers to support adult learners and promote literacy skills (i.e., ESL, Literacy, Citizenship, HSE, Digital, Health, and how they are delivered, i.e., one-on-one, small groups, classes)?

Though my ESL student has excellent English skills, when we began classes her goal was to secure a job. She did not feel confident in her writing and oral communications.

We centered our classes around Resume and Cover Letter writing, and practiced interviewing.  We reviewed potential questions she would be asked during interviews.

She is a very motivated student, always coming to class with extra homework completed and questions to ask. After a few unsuccessful interviews, within about three months she was hired for a position that works well for her current schedule and family situation.

She continues to develop confidence, and we spend many class sessions conversing and discussing unique 'Americanisms' of our language.
